Krogh's Turkey Trot took place in frigid temperatures on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 2018. (Photo provided).
The temperature in Sparta was in the teens on Thanskgiving morning, Nov. 22, as runners participated in Krogh's Turkey Trot 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run. The annual event, sponsored by the Sparta Education Foundation, was the hit it always is, despite the day's frigid temperature. The fundraising holiday event takes place each year in front of Krogh's Restaurant at 23 White Deer Plaza. This year the first runner to finish the 5K was Robert Russo, 18, of Sparta. His time was 17 minutes and 10 seconds. He attends Stevens Institute of Technology as a Mechanical Engineering major and he runs for the college as well. He has been running the Turkey Trot every year since it started. He is a graduate of Pope John XXIII Regional High School.
