— On April 19 at 2:14 p.m., Newton Police responded to Dunkin Donuts at 128 Water Street for a call reporting a fight in progress, according to a Newton Police Department news release.

Upon arrival, patrols observed a male identified as Christopher DeMott, 42, of Armstrong Road, Augusta, NJ ,actively assaulting Wolodar Blazhenko, 25, of Mudcut Road, Lafayette, NJ, according ot police.

As a result, DeMott was taken into custody and issued a complaint charging him with simple assault.

A warrant check on Blazhenko revealed an outstanding $1,500 warrant out of Rockaway Township for failing to appear and he was arrested, processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default of bail.

Upon the release of DeMott from police custody, a family member arrived on scene in a vehicle being operated by Raymond Vasquez-Oliver, 20, of Maple Lane, of Branchville. A small marijuana roach was observed in the center console of his vehicle by Sgt. Michael Monaco.

Further investigation revealed that Vasquez-Oliver was in possession of a small plastic bag of marijuana.

He was then arrested for being in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and later released.

The case is pending future court appearances in Newton Municipal Court.
