— Stevens Institute of Technology senior softball player Danielle DeFeo was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team this spring.

The honor marks the second time the shortshop has been named to the team, the first of which came in 2012 as a sophomore.

DeFeo, of Green Township, is a 2010 graduate of Newton High School.

DeFeo started all 43 games for the Ducks this season, finishing first on the team in on-base-percentage (.434), hits (53), walks (18), and runs (35).

In the classroom, DeFeo sports a 3.90 GPA and is on-pace to graduate next spring with a master's degree in mechanical engineering.

With DeFeo as a major contributor, the Ducks (30-13) had their most successful season in school history this spring, setting a new school record in wins with 30 and finishing second in the Empire 8 Conference for the first time.

DeFeo finished her career at Stevens holding school records in numerous offensive categories, including total career hits (197), career batting average (.377), career runs (108), season batting average (.458), season hits (70), consecutive game hitting streak (29) and season runs (35).
