— The 13th Annual Taste of Newton will take place on Monday, Sept. 8, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Spring St. in Newton.

This year will be continuing the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Town of Newton as participants will taste the culinary delights of area restaurants and caterers.

Each year the street comes alive for a festive evening to kick off the fall season.

Restaurants and culinary businesses have an opportunity to showcase their talents by supplying samples of their best cuisine. Live music fills the street for listening and dancing pleasure.

All Sussex County restaurants are invited to participate in the tasting event.

Only limited tickets will be sold, which are available in advance for $50. They will be sold at the Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce office or by visiting www.greaternewtoncc.com.

If there are tickets available the day of the event the price will be $60.

Beverages including beer, wine, and mixed drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

The continuing popularity of the affair increases community awareness of the many eating establishments in the area.

The event is sponsored by the Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the event help to fund its scholarship programs.

The rain date for the event is Sept. 9.
