SCCC adds 12 new programs for fall

    Sussex County Community College has announced the addition of 12 new degree programs: Architecture Design, Art Education, Culinary Arts, Digital Forensics, Electronic Music and Recording, Fashion Design, Game Development, Interior Design, Musical Theater, and Technical Theater, as well as a two new Certificates of Achievement: Cyber Crime Investigation and Cultural Competence. Each of these programs will be offered for the first time during the fall semester, which begins Sept. 5. Registration is available now.
    "The needs of our students and community come first; we are always looking to expand our degree offerings that are timely, and important," said Kathleen Peterson, director of marketing. "We are pleased to offer such a vast array of new programs for the fall semester.”
    The new degree programs include:

    Associate's degrees:
    • Architecture Design Option — Study art, theory, art history, technology and studio work for an understanding of Architectural Design. Prepares students with the necessary portfolio to transfer to a B.F.A. in Architectural Design.
    • Art Education Option — Acquire the knowledge and skills through Student Arts and Art Education curricula. Prepares students for transfer to a four-year institution to study Art Education.
    • Fashion Design — Prepares students in becoming professionals in the field of art and design and for transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a degree in fashion or an entry-level careers in the creative arts.
    • Interior Design Option — Learn to create and study art, art history, theory, technology and studio work. Prepares students with the necessary portfolio to transfer to a B.F.A. in Interior Design
    • Musical Theater — Acquire knowledge and skills necessary to transfer to a four-year institution to
    pursue a B.A. in Musical Theater. Also prepares students for entry-level positions in music: business, production, performance and education.

    Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.):
    • Culinary Arts — Combines culinary training with management practices that are needed to excel in the food service industry.
    • Digital Forensics Option — Designed for students who plan to enter the field of Data Recovery,
    Computer Forensic Investigation or related fields.
    • Electronic Music & Recording — Develop hands-on skills in modern electronic music technology and the use of electronic instruments to manipulate sound and create music.
    • Game Development — Prepares students for entry-level positions in programming, testing and game design.
    • Technical Theater — Prepares students for entry-level employment in technical support positions within the entertainment industry.

    Certificates of Achievement:
    • Cyber Crime Investigation — Focuses on cyber-based crimes which will prepare students to enter the field of computer crime investigations and private security.
    • Cultural Competence — Gain competence in understanding cross-cultural relationships and multicultural interactions.
