School counselors present caring awards

NEWTON — Ten area high school students were the recipients of the annual High School Caring Awards presented by the Sussex County School Counselors Association at a breakfast in the Student Center Theater at Sussex County Community College.
The students who exemplified a caring attitude towards their school and community were recommended for the awards by a guidance counselor from their high school. Some examples of services students have participated in over the years include Pass It Along, Operation Smile, animal rescue, special needs care and missionary trips. Students had a combined total of over 1000 hours of community service.
This year’s recipients were Megan Canfield of Lenape Valley High School; Domenica Bevacqua of Sussex County Technical School; Max Rodriquez of Vernon Township High School; Jack Lubertazzi of Pope John XXIII Regional High School; Matthew Cohrs of High Point Regional High School; Tyler Small of Wallkill Valley Regional High School; Kathleen Reidmiller of Newton High School; Alexis Faria of Sparta High School; Jessica Taylor of Kittatinny Regional High School; and Dominc Solimando of Hopatcong High School.
