Ronetco awards scholarships

– RoNetco Supermarkets, operators of ShopRite supermarkets in Sussex, Morris, and Warren counties, has announced the scholarship winners for the 2018-2019 academic school year. Among the 14 students awarded were four from Sussex County.

Samantha Glosser, resident of Hopatcong, received the Thomas & Vincenia Romano Scholarship ($2,500, named after RoNetco’s founders). Glosser is a part-time associate at the ShopRite of Byram. She is a senior at Montclair State University, where she is studying Psychology and Child Advocacy and Policy. Glosser has consistently been on the Dean’s List and maintains a 4.0 GPA. Glosser is an active member of numerous honor societies, including the Golden Key International Honor Society, National Society for Leadership and Success, and Phi Theta Kappa. She is a research assistant to one of her professors at MSU and is also conducting her own research. After graduation, Samantha hopes to attend graduate school for Clinical Psychology.

The following three students received $1,000 scholarships.

Amanda Ahearn, resident of Andover and student at Felician University

Ahearn is a senior at Felician University majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology with a 3.84 GPA. Ahearn plans to enroll in a Physician Assistant program after graduating with the goal of going into the global medicine field. Along with working at the Byram ShopRite part-time, Ahearn is the president of the Students Interested in Medicine Club at her university and was a representative of her university at the International Day of Women & Girls in Science Conference at the United Nations Headquarters. She also devotes time to volunteering abroad in Nicaragua and locally at Morristown Medical Center.

Sarah Fairweather, resident of Sussex and student at Centenary University

Fairweather will be a senior in the fall at Centenary University. Her major is Elementary School Education and she was recently inducted into Kappa Delta Epsilon, the honor society for students majoring in education. Fairweather has worked part-time as a cashier at the ShopRite of Newton since March of 2014. In addition to working at ShopRite and going to school, she loves reading, going on adventures, and spending time with friends and family.

Ryan Wilson, resident of Hopatcong and student at Montclair State University

Wilson is going into her senior year at Montclair State University this fall. She is double majoring in Child Advocacy and Justice Studies with a concentration in Justice Systems. She is consistently on the Dean’s List and graduated from County College of Morris in 2017 with her Associate’s in Criminal Justice. She plans on pursuing graduate degrees after obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair. Wilson works part time in the Customer Service Department at the Byram ShopRite. She hopes to one day work for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Washington, D.C.
