STOCKHOLM — Morris Knolls High School (Morris County) defeated Sparta-Jefferson United in varsity ice hockey on Saturday, January 7. The final score was 5-2. The game took place at Skylands Ice World in Stockholm, New Jersey.
Sparta-Jefferson United consists of hockey players from Sparta High School (Sparta) and Jefferson Township High School (Oak Ridge). This is the team's inaugural season. By the conclusion of the second period the Morris Knolls Golden Eagles were well ahead 5-0.
Chris Conway scored two goals for Morris Knolls. Morris Knolls goalie Andrew Rush made 36 saves.
Brendan Erickson finished with a goal and an assist for Sparta-Jefferson and Connor Erickson added a goal. Sparta-Jefferson United goalie Logan Hanek made 13 saves.
Team records: Morris Knolls 9-3-1. Sparta-Jefferson 7-3-2.
