  • Even blue ribbon ewes need their beauty sleep! Be careful not to wake this prized sheep if you visit Barn 4.




  • A collaborative category between local art students and professional floral designers yielded this Flower Show 1st place winner. The painting is by Newton High School rising senior Riley Catalano, and the floral interpretation of the artwork is from Petals Florist in Franklin.




  • Best in Show Vegetables on display in the Greenhouse.




  • Blue ribbon birdhouse on display in the Shotwell 4-H Building, made by William Teitsma, IV of the 4-H Group "Allons-y Caching".




  • Shelves of home-canned goods, including jams, jellies, and pickles, are on display in the Richards Building.




  • The Best in Show for Professional Floral Arrangers went to Richard Kawaske of Fair Acres, for his interpretation of the theme "Dutch Canal Boat".




  • A Netherland Dwarf rabbit named Babe won his breed and nestles next to his prize in the 4-H Small Animal Barn.




  • The prize-winning peppers of Summer Blossoms 4-H'er Meredith MacRae are on display in the Shotwell 4-H building.




  • Colorful quilts draw the eye upward as they hang from the ceiling of the Richards Building.




  • This handsome fellow, on display in the 4-H Small Animal Barn, knows that a blue ribbon for him and one for his owner is something to crow about!




— The New Jersey State Fair and Sussex County Farm and Horse Show opened on Friday August 3, and the talents of local residents went on display. Entrants of all ages were vying for ribbons in disciplines ranging from fine art to animal husbandry, and much of the early judging was done over the first weekend. Many of the entries will be available to view through the end of the Fair, on Sunday August 12.
