NThe Newton Theatre Arts Academy announces it will be holding auditions for its spring show, The Lion King Experience. Students in 3rd through 8th grade are encouraged to audition, where they will learn a short dance routine, read from the script, and sing. They may bring 16 bars of a song of their choosing with accompaniment or we will teach them a song from the show. Rehearsals will be on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5 to 7:30 p.m. starting Jan. 21, with the performance date of April 11th. If cast, there is a cost of $300. The Newton Theatre Arts Academy is a Not-For-Profit organization and they do offer needs-based scholarships. Questions should be directed to the Director of Education, Sara Bartlett at 973-383-3700 ext 105 or sbartlett@skypac.org.

The Lion King Experience tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon, and lovable warthog Pumbaa. To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Prideland, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar. The Lion King Experience features classic songs from the 1994 film such as “Hakuna Matata” and the Academy Award®-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” as well as additional songs penned for the Broadway production.
