John J. Neumayer, age 51, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018. Born and raised in Teaneck, John lived in Teaneck before moving to Sussex County in 1994.

He had been employed as a production manager for Stryker Corporation in Mahwah for the past 26 years. John was a Past Assistant Scout Master for Pack #84 of Sussex and a Past Captain of the Little Ferry Rescue Squad.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Lauretta (D’Avanzo); his two sons, Jason and Sean both at home; his parents, John P. and Johanna T. (Tirrito) Neumayer of Teaneck; his brother, Salvatore D. Neumayer of Las Vegas, Nevada; his sister, Jennifer G. Neumayer and her daughter Penelope of Towaco; his godchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may pay their respects to the family on Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Private cremation services have been held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to a scholar fund to benefit the future education of John’s sons, Jason and Sean. Contributions made to the family may be sent to the funeral home address and will be placed in an account for the children. If flowers are sent, the family requests that floral arrangements do not include gladiola flowers, since John did not particularly care for this specific flower. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.pinkelfuneralhome.com.
