NJ requires LGBT, disability-inclusive lessons

NJ Gov. Phil Murphy this week signed into law a requirement for LGBTQ and disability-inclusiveness in school lessons. It's modeled after a California law passed in 2011. The governor said it was an honor to sign onto the inclusiveness, saying that learning about the history of the groups, will help with tolerance and will strengthen the community. The law is aimed at public, not private schools. The governor also said the law does not amount to buying new textbooks, but rather an inclusion of various groups in discussion and engaging in a way that takes all groups into account when discussing history and what it is to be American: In other words, a way of encouraging Americans who had previouslly been left out.
