Bucco to hold public meeting for commuters

TRENTON, – N.J. Department of Transportation Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti will join Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco at a public meeting for commuters next month.

“Turning around N.J. Transit’s record as the nation’s most troubled railroad could take years,” said Bucco (R-Morris). “But we can’t do that without better communication between transportation officials and commuters. The time for finger pointing and excuses needs to end.”

Bucco’s goal for setting up the public meeting is so that commuters can learn the long-term benchmarks officials have set for fixing the railroad and share their experiences.

“Better communication is needed to alleviate everyone’s frustrations and commuters can better plan how they will get to where they need to go,” continued Bucco. “I am grateful that the commissioner will join me so we can address that problem immediately.”

The meeting will be held on March 11 at the Morris Township Municipal Building at 50 Woodland Avenue from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees will be able to ask questions during the event.

Bucco asked the commissioner to join him during a private conference call with members of the Assembly Transportation Committee just prior to a hearing Thursday. He has called for immediate action to fix some of NJ Transit’s obvious and more urgent problems and has twice called for public hearings in Trenton.
