Early voting in NJ easier than ever

Voting in New Jersey is easier than ever. With early voting there's no waiting on line and there's increased opportunity to cast your vote. How to obtain an early voting ballot? Call the Sussex County Clerk and ask that an early vote ballot be mailed to your residence. Or apply in person at the Sussex County Clerk's Office. It's possible to obtain the ballot, while waiting, if application is made in person 40 days or closer to an election day. Call the County Clerk for questions about early voting, or go to the web site www.SussexCountyClerk.org for further information. Or call 973-579-0900.

Application must be received at least 7 days ahead of Election Day, but voters can get a ballot in person starting 45 days before an election, up until 3 p.m. the day before elections.

Early ballots need to be postmarked no later than Election Day, and must not be received more than 48 hours after polls closed.

Voters are not allowed to vote on behalf of another. Registered voters need to sign their own vote early application and must pick up the application. Assistance in filling it out is permitted, but the person helping must fill out the application's Section 10, indicating they're helping, and they must sign.

For more information contact the Sussex County Clerk.
