InterAct helps Ronald McDonald House

Newton - The Kittatinny InterAct's first aluminum can tab drive was held through the month of January to help the Ronald McDonald House in New Brunswick. The winner of our drive was the Junior Class. They collected 30,456 tabs. A combined total of 41,738 tabs were collected from all the classes. A special thanks to Mrs. Iliff who turned in 59,784 tabs alone.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities recycles the tabs to raise money to help offset the cost of housing families. To house one family, it costs between $100-$140 per night. The families are asked to contribute ten dollars per night, but no family is turned away based on the inability to pay. Knowing families are dealing with expenses from their child's medical treatment and hospital stay, they offer the family a place to stay without adding to their accumulating expenses. The Ronald McDonald House is open to any family that has a child staying in the hospital for a period of time, allowing the family to stay nearby while their child is there. Through donations by local organizations, meals are provided for the families as well. With everyone offering their support, families can just focus on helping their child get better.
