The “Night of Hope Gala” on Wednesday, May 22 welcomes all who desire to be a part of the celebration as memories are shared and friends new and old are cherished for their part in making CFPC the community agency it is today.
CFPC began as the Alcohol Information Center (AIC) of Sussex County, a community-based information and referral organization whose staff worked closely with treatment centers and 12-Step programs to assist those in recovery. With community input, the agency focused on a primary goal of preventing alcohol misuse and dependence. The first Executive Director was a dynamic woman with a strong sense of purpose and a clear vision, and it was under her leadership, that in 1980, the AIC became known as the Sussex Council on Alcohol, Inc. In 1988, the agency expanded its mission and became the Sussex Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Inc. As its name became more inclusive, programs became more expansive. The agency adopted a holistic approach to addressing addiction by dedicating itself to the prevention of substance use and misuse through the provision of education, information dissemination, referrals, advocacy and counseling. CFPC staff now includes clinicians with the licenses and expertise to provide treatment for a wide range of mental health and substance use disorders, Certified Prevention Specialists and trained recovery coaches while remaining committed to using evidence-based practices and programs.
There are several ways to be a part of CFPC’s “Night of Hope Gala” including prestigious sponsorship possibilities, gathering friends to fill a table, purchasing a journal ad to memorialize or honor a loved one or friend, contributing unique items for their silent auction and/or simply donating to the agency.
