Music and laughter filled Musconetcong Park on Saturday, July 13 as dozens of Stanhope residents gathered to celebrate their annual Family Fun Day. Officers from the Stanhope Police and members of Hose Company #1 and the Stanhope-Netcong American Legion Ambulance Corp showed off their vehicles and mingled with the crowd as Ladder 1 played the role of a giant sprinkler.
Mayor Rosemary Maio and members of the town council were on hand to serve snacks and greet residents at the event which was organized by the Stanhope Recreation Committee. With each borough event this year, they’ve been grateful to avoid the inclement weather which plagued them the last two summers.
“This is great,” Council president Patricia Zdichocki said.
She walked through the park with her shih tzu which was sporting a Hawaiian shirt.
“We had good weather for the Spring Festival, Miss Stanhope, and now again today: Just wonderful," she said.
Mayor Maio echoed Zdichocki’s sentiment as she handed out franks and sauerkraut from a classic steel and chrome hot dog cart.
“I’m really delighted,” she said, “This is a nice turnout and we’re having such fun.”
