North Star Theater Company (NSTC) will be performing an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart” during Sussex County Community College’s (SCCC) “Halloween Bash” on Thursday, October 28, at 6:30. Bring a chair to watch the free performance held at Connor Green. The Halloween Bash will also have music, costume contest, and prizes.

SCCC theater students who will be performing in this hauntingly timeless tale are Christopher Flatt as the man, Anthony Guerra and Nicholas Batelli as the neighbors, Laura Marchese as the visitor, Michael Cagno as an officer, and acting professor Jim Berkheiser as the roomer. Also included in the cast is NSTC actor Phil Cocilovo, playing another officer. The NSTC production of “The Tell Tale Heart” is directed by Allison Ognibene, with lighting design by Jaime Boyle and costume design by Andrea Pennella.

“It’s a thrilling experience to perform this suspenseful story, especially before Halloween,” remarked Allison Ognibene, artistic director of North Star Theater Company. “The actors and production team are doing a great job bringing the chilling elements of the short story to the stage, while creating a haunting atmosphere for the audience.”

The play focuses on a man who is troubled by his roomer. In comfortless surroundings, the man’s sanity is questioned as he plans and commits the “perfect crime.” When neighbors check in on the man and his guest, followed up by two officers, the man cannot rid his madness and the sound of a beating heart.
