Maker Faire is the greatest show (and tell) on Earth — a family friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement.

The Sussex County Maker Faire will be held on Oct. 23 and 24 at the Ideal Farm and Garden Center, 222 State Route 19 in Lafayette. The event is almost entirely outside.

Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.

Categories of activity include combat robots, electric vehicles, 3D printing, art and design, craft, power racing, and education, among others. A few local tech companies will be sending reps this year to talk to tech students about possible employment in the future.
