On Sept. 12, 2019, School Counselor, Lisa Schuffenhauer, accepted the Bronze Award from TransOptions on behalf of Hudson Maxim School for the 2018-2019 School Year for working towards Safe Routes to School. Hudson Maxim participated in the Elementary School Bike Rodeo in the spring and had Safe Routes educators teach lessons on biking and walking safety in first grade classrooms.

First grade students also created a display in the school of safe routes to school with tips for biking and walking safety. The students learned invaluable life lessons with the support of TransOptions by participating in their Safe Routes to School programs. The staff members, currently at Durban Avenue School in Hopatcong, look forward to expanding the programs in the coming school year.
