The students of Hopatcong Middle School honored their community Veterans by hosting two Veteran Day assemblies. Students filled the gym and welcomed local families who currently serve or have served in the United States Military.

Guest speaker, Garrison Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Morgan III of Picatinny Arsenal addressed the students in grades 4 through 7. Lieutenant Colonel Morgan III entered the Army in 2000 as a Transportation Officer in Ft. Hood, Texas. He was later deployed to Afghanistan. As a Major, Lieutenant Colonel Morgan served in the Intelligence and Special Operations Communities.

LTC Morgan spoke to the students about the importance of respect and leadership. He both motivated and encouraged the Hopatcong Middle School students to strive to be the best student leaders possible. Albert Cerulo, Linda Blazier, and Luis Mendez orchestrated choral and band performances at both assemblies. The ceremony closed by LTC Morgan presenting Honor Challenge Coins of Excellence to Principals Lewis Benfatti and Tracey Hensz to recognize their leadership of Hopatcong Middle School.
