Sparta Public Schools will be closed through March 27. The announcement was posted on the District's web site, and also tweeted from the Superintendent's Twitter account at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13.

The web site post states that the "decision was made in consultation with the Department of Health and Education" and the school recommends clicking on its web site link to review important information regrading Sparta Township Schools COVID-19 Emergency Preparedness Plans. There is also an online Q & A area where parents can submit COVID-19-related questions.

A portion of one of the School's previous online statements about its coronavirus preparedness plan is below:

"We recognize that in these unsettling times, information from various media sources can be conflicting, confusing, and overwhelming. To support our families in being as up to date with the information that impacts our school district, we have developed a web site to provide this important information as well as provide an opportunity to be responsive to the needs of our Sparta community.

Sparta Twp. Public Schools COVID-19 Information:

This web site contains information from the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), and the Sparta Township Public Schools.

Included is COVID-19 information, guidelines, and precautions to protect yourself, your child and your family, information broadcasts from the NJDOE related to school closures, the Sparta Twp. Schools Preparedness Plan, Sparta Twp. Schools student support services during an emergency closure, Sparta Twp. Schools cleaning protocols, and links to the individual schools for updates and information related to the emergency home instruction. We have also embedded a Google Form where our Sparta Learning Community members can ask questions to be answered in an attached Google Doc. (on the web site)...

We are happy to share that our food service provider, Maschio’s, has created a plan to continue to provide lunches for our students receiving free and reduced-price meals. A pickup schedule will be shared to allow these students to continue receiving this important service.

Please know that the Sparta Township Public Schools are committed to the continued support of our students during this difficult time. Further details regarding each building’s plans and supports for our students will be shared by our building principals. We encourage everyone to continue to heed the recommendations of our local, state, and federal health officials and continue to “do your part” to stop the spread of this virus for the health and safety of all. Please do not hesitate to reach out via our dedicated website or by contacting our district or building administration should you or your family require additional assistance. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and understanding and be well."
