Students at the Tulsa Trail Elementary School honored local veterans at a special assembly on Nov. 11. The event, funded by a Project PRIDE Grant from the Hopatcong Education Association, gave the second and third grade students an opportunity to thank a vet while while also learning about their experiences in the military. Coordinated by resource teacher Jennifer Neu, the program shows students how important veterans are to our country and to give the students an opportunity to show honor and respect to these brave men and women.

The assembly included special songs sung by Tulsa Trail’s students, speeches written by third graders, music performed by the Hopatcong High School band, and a video presentation with pictures of family members in the military. Each veteran in attendance received an award made by the students and they were treated to a lunch after visiting each classroom.

More than 300 students, teachers, family members, and veterans in attendance, the day was a perfect way for students to express their appreciation for those who serve our country. To view the Tulsa Trail Veteran Video, visit https://tinyurl.com/TTSVets19.
