Henry Salvatore D’Arco of Oak Ridge, N.J., passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021. He was 90.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1930, in the Bronx, N.Y., to Anna (nee Carcaterra) and Domenick D’Arco.
From 1935 to 1938 Henry attended elementary school PS 54 in the Bronx; PS 66 and St. John Chrisostrum in New York City from 1939 to 1942; PS Junior High School Herman Ridder in New York City from 1942 to 1945; and James Monroe High School in New York City from 1945 to 1948, graduating with an academic diploma.
Henry proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1949 to 1950 USNEV and from 1951 to 1956 USN during the Korean War, both with honorable discharges.
Upon returning from serving in the military, Henry attended City College from 1957 to 1962 and graduated with a B.S. in electrical engineering. While working for ITT, Henry attended New York University, taking evening courses to become acquainted with digital EE.
Henry married Ines Marie Castrillon in 1964 and resided for two years in an apartment in New York City, where they started their family of four boys, Patrick in 1967, Alexander in 1968, David in 1970, and Steven in 1972.
In 1968 the family moved to Milton, N.J., in Jefferson Township, N.J., where they remained until each of their passings.
Henry worked for ITT from 1962 to 1974 as a switching engineer and was later employed by RCA/GE/MCI as an international senior project engineer for Global Projects until his retirement on Dec. 1, 1996.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ines, in 2015, and his loving son Alexander in 2016.
Henry is survived by his dear sons Patrick D’Arco and his wife, Traci, David D’Arco and his wife, Andrea, and Steven D’Arco and his wife, Adriana; and his cherished grandchildren, Gabriella, Jack, Anthony, Leo, Salvatore, and Dominic.
Funeral services were private.
