Kathleen Kantenwein of the Cranberry Lake Section of Byram Township, N.J., passed away Friday, March 19, 2021. She was 78.

Born Nov. 6, 1942, to Catherine and Charles Busch, she was a graduate of Franklin High School.

Kathleen was employed by Picatinny Arsenal in Jefferson Township, N.J., where she worked as an administrative assistant for more than 25 years. Following her retirement Kathy became a very active parishioner of the Good Shepard Roman Catholic Church in Andover, N.J. In her beloved parish, she led Bible studies, sang in the choir, became a grief counselor, and served faithfully in many other ministries.

Kathleen enjoyed cooking, traveling, and socializing, but her greatest love was her family. She was truly the matriarch of the Busch/Kelson family. Kathy’s 12 grandchildren were the absolute joy of her life, and she cherished every moment she shared with them.

Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, Robert Kantenwein, in 2016.

She is survived by her children, Douglas and his wife, Mary Kelson, and their children, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Olivia, of Denville, N.J., Steven and his wife, Darcy Kelson, and their children, Drew, Stephanie, and Evan of Mt. Olive, N.J., Michael and his wife, Liz Kelson, and their children, Amelia, Rachel, and Isabelle of Parsippany, N.J., and Dawn Schreiber and her children, Zoe, Teddy, and Alex of Green Township, N.J. Also surviving are her sisters, Margaret Hunter of Putney, Vt., Christine Engler of Jay, Vt., and Eileen Kearns of Sebastopol, Calif.; as well as her brother Bill Busch of Cranberry Lake, N.J.

Visitation was held March 23 in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, Newton, N.J. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held March 24 in the Good Shepard Roman Catholic Church, Andover, N.J. Interment will immediately follow in the Church Cemetery on Airport Road, Andover Township, N.J.
