Custom auto and repair shop

M&M Custom Exhaust and Auto Repair opened two months ago, and already the business is thriving with a core of customers and a strict attention to detail and customer service.

The business is owned by Matthew Finnegan and Meghan Dunleavy.

“We were looking for a while for a location close to existing customers and a nice community where we can develop new customer relationships,” Finnegan, who serves as the shop's technician, said. “We are new in the town of Sparta and are an automotive shop that deals with all parts of your car.”

Both Finnegan and Dunleavy previously worked at Meineke in Ledgewood. Dunleavy has been running the sales and accounting for a couple of shops since she was 16 years old and has been doing it this for 18 years. Finnegan went to technical school and began working with a couple of shops at age 17. He's been in the business for 15 years.

One of the businesses specialties is exhaust.

“I've been doing custom exhaust for 13 years,” Finnegan said. “My wife Meghan is the office manager. We together created and operate M&M Custom Exhaust and Auto Repair.”

M&M does auto repair including brakes, suspension and steering, exhaust, tune-ups, other maintenance, engine repair, transmission repairs, some electrical, and engine diagnostics.

“We try to let our customers learn what we provide and let them understand when certain service needs to be done and what can wait,” Finnegan said.

M&M serves Sussex, Warren and Morris counties and has local as well as out-of-town customers.

Their most popular services are exhaust repairs and oil changes and Finnegan said some services people may not know they do include aftermarket vehicle installs.

M&M is currently offering, specials of 15 percent off of $50 or more, a $95 winter package (wipers, oil change, tire rotation and coolant flush), and a $159 car care package.

“We would love to be your local go to shop,” Finnigan said.
