F45, a new fitness concept, opened two weeks ago in Sparta within the new ShopRite plaza.

“We are a new trend in fitness,” said owner Craig Skawinski.

He's no stranger to the fitness world, having owned a big box franchise, US Jersey Health & Fitness, in Roxbury, for 10 years.

“I started seeing people moving away from the come-in-to-the-gym, do your workout and leave,” Skawinski said. “People started preferring a group effort and more of a studio environment.”

He did his research discovering he really liked the F45 ideology, and jumped on the trend.

The “F” stands for functional training and the 45 is because that's the duration of the workout.

“There was nothing like this in the area and I like the idea that it's for everybody,” Skawinski said. “You can be just starting out or someone seasoned with working out and F45 suits everyone.”

Classes consist of a group, up to 27, and one, two, three or four trainers depending on the unit's size.

“With the holidays here, F45 gift certificates are a unique gift and great way to introduce your friends and family to this new fitness trend,” he said.

Kids classes will be coming in January and F45 is currently offering a one week free pass.

F45 is located at 12 North Village Boulevard in Building D. For further information, pricing and to sign up, visit https://f45training.com/spartanj/home or call 973-713-0035.
