On the heels of the success of Byram Fest, a food truck and fireworks event held on Friday, Sep 27, the Town Council and Recreation Committee are looking for community input as they plan Byram Day 2020. Non-profits, business owners, residents, and law and safety personnel are invited to the next Recreation Committee meeting at 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct 21, at the Municipal Building. Discussion will focus on a potential date and format for next year’s festivities.

There is also an open seat on the Recreation Committee, which meets on third Mondays. Any resident interested in joining the committee can contact Township Clerk Doris Flynn at dflynn@byramtwp.org.

    Energy aggregation

The council is considering an energy aggregation program to save money for Byram residential electric utility customers. The third-party aggregation would not affect the billing or service provided by JCP&L, but would allow for energy prices to be negotiated at auction. There is no obligation to take part and consumers would be able to opt out, should the council decide to contract with an aggregation company. Residents are welcome to offer thoughts on energy aggregation at any council meeting.

    Nixle alert system

Byram is now offering free text and email community alerts through the Nixle notification system. All residents are encouraged to sign up for the service to ensure they receive information on weather emergencies, road closures, and more. To register, visit www.byramtwp.org and click on the Nixle-Community Alert System link on the News & Noteworthy page.
