Flames engulf Lakeview Drive residence

An Andover Township residence was fully engulfed by flames when Andover Township Police arrived on scene shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, according to fire officials.

The structure fire at 3A Lakeview Drive was in the Lake Iliff section of Andover Township. The Andover Township Fire Department responded along with help from the Newton, Sparta, Andover Borough, and Ogdensburg fire departments. Additional water tenders were requested from Byram Township and Green Township. The Lakeland Emergency Squad treated the lone occupant and provided rehabilitation services to the responding firefighters.

The Andover Township Fire Chief stated that based on preliminary discussions the occupant, at this point it is believed the fire could have possibly started from an unattended candle within the bedroom area. The Andover Township Police Department and Sussex County Fire Marshal are continuing the investigation.
