Repair funds available for qualifying Byram homeowners

Byram. Qualifying homeowners may find an interest-free loan is available to them through the Byram Rehabilitation, which is part of the Township's Affordable Housing Program.

    Interest-free loans are now being made available to qualifying Byram Township homeowners for basic home repairs through the Byram Housing Rehabilitation Program (BHRP). The BHRP is sponsored by Byram as part of the Township's Affordable Housing Program mandated by the State. To begin the process, homeowners must first submit a preapplication to determine their eligibility. Applicants are considered on a first come, first served basis.

    Financial assistance is offered to low- and moderate-income Township homeowners for basic home improvements in the form of a 0% interest, deferred payment loan of up to $17,000. Loans are not due to be repaid until the house is sold. Funding for the Program comes from Affordable Housing development fees that have been paid to the Township.

    Pre-application forms can be obtained at the Byram Township Municipal Building, or on the Township's website, www.byramtwp.org, under "Forms & Documents".

    Funding is currently available for four housing rehabilitation loans, and applications are processed in the order they are received.
