— Subaru University creates partnerships between Subaru of America and many accredited post-secondary colleges. Recently, Subaru University and Sussex County Community College (SCCC) formed a partnership to enhance SCCC's Automotive Services Technology program.
Aligning the Automotive Services Technology program at SCCC with Subaru of America gives students the advantage of being trained from an industry leader. SCCC’s automotive curriculum is now infusing Subaru-U’s Web Based Training into their current curriculum.
“Having Subaru-U as part of our automotive program gives students the advantage of working with a leading retailer and their extensive knowledge in the automotive field,” said Jason Fruge, automotive program supervisor at SCCC. “With the technology in today’s vehicles, we are able to teach our students how to become highly-skilled technicians in the automotive industry.”
As the industry changes, The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts the need for qualified technicians will increase by 2024. The SCCC automotive program is meeting that need and providing students with the training necessary to diagnose and repair the automobiles of today and tomorrow.
SCCC’s Automotive Service Technology program is also a part of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). This independent non-profit organization looks to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service by testing and certifying automotive professionals.
“The College is proud to have the support of the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE),” said Fruge. “We want our students to have the best resources available to enhance their learning experience.”
Classes begin January 22 but students can still Late Register until Friday, January 26th. For more information about the Automotive Services Technology degree or certificate program at SCCC, contact Jason Fruge at 973.300. 2256 or email jfruge@sussex.edu.
