    On 2/2/20 at approximately 11:15 pm, P.O. Brian Porter observed a grey Toyota Camry speeding, 74 in a 55 mph zone, on Rt 15 north. Upon stopping the vehicle, Officer Porter detected the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. The driver, 21 yr old Carter Booth of Newark, NJ, stated that a friend, who smokes marijuana, had recently borrowed his vehicle. A search of the vehicle turned up a small amount of marijuana, which Mr. Booth took ownership of. Mr. Booth’s passenger, 35 yr old Dominique Jean-Pierre of Newark, NJ, had active warrants, totaling $600 out of Newark. Mr. Booth and Ms. Jean-Pierre were placed under arrest and transported to Sparta Police HQ. Mr. Booth was charged with: Poss. of Marijuana, CDS in a MV, Failure to Keep Right and Throwing Debris from a MV. He was advised of a mandatory court date and released. Newark Court was contacted and issued a new court appearance for Ms. Jean-Pierre. She was advised of her new court date and released.


    On 2/1/20 at approximately 7:30 pm, P.O. Matthew Pletcher was performing exterior school checks when he came across a black Chevrolet that was idling in the Sussex Tech parking lot. He approached the vehicle and met with the driver, 30 yr old Laura Presiosi of Hamburg, NJ, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle. Ms. Presiosi was on her phone and refused to hang-up when asked to do so by Officer PLetcher. She became verbally abusive toward Officer Pletcher and refused to step out of her vehicle when asked to do so. She would only supply her first name and told Officer Pletcher to run her plate if he wanted her information. Officer Pletcher ordered Ms. Presiosi to step out of her vehicle and placed her under arrest for failure to obey the lawful order of a police officer. She was transported to Sparta Police HQ to be processed and was charged with Failure to Obey a Lawful Order (a disorderly persons offense) and parking in a handicapped space. Ms. Presiosi was advised of a mandatory court appearance and released.


    On 1/27/2020 at approximately 1:40 pm, P.O. Thomas Herd stopped a white Cadillac, travelling north on Rt 15, for a cracked windshield and inoperable brake light. Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Herd observed that the backseat passenger, 42 yr old Bridget Moore of Franklin, NJ, was not wearing a seatbelt. While checking Ms. Moore’s information, it was learned that she had several active warrants from four different towns for her arrest. The warrants were from: Hackensack, Sewell, Camden and Willingboro, which totaled $5,850.00. Ms. Moore was placed under arrest and transported to Sparta Police HQ to be processed. Hackensack PD opted to come and pickup Ms. Moore on their warrant. She was issued one summons for no seatbelt and released to Hackensack patrols.


    On 1/21/2020 at approximately 10:30 a.m., P.O. Brian Porter stopped a 4-door Mazda, bearing a Tennessee registration, for maintenance of lamps. Upon approaching the driver, 33 yr old Dawn Ashley of Milford, PA, and obtaining her documents, Officer Porter found out that Ms. Ashley’s driving privileges were suspended in New Jersey and that she had an active warrant out of Prospect Park for $503.00. Ms. Ashley was placed under arrest and transported to Sparta Police HQ for processing. Prospect Park was contacted and issued a new court date for Ms. Ashley to appear. She was issued summonses for maintenance of Lamps and Driving While Suspended and advised of a mandatory court appearance before being released.
