— The Sussex County Miners are blowing out America's Birthday by hosting Fourth of July & Hometown Heroes Night. Taking place at 6:05 pm against the in-state rival New Jersey Jackals, this year's Fourth of July celebration will feature a patriotic mix of baseball and saluting first responders and more.
As fans enter Skylands Stadium, they will be greeted by Miners players wearing camouflage jerseys and then check out an F-22 trailer on display from the United States Air Force. Pre-game festivities will lead off with an amazing parade of first responder vehicles from Lakeland EMS, Branchville Fire Department, State Police and Sussex County Sheriff, Sussex and Warren County Hazmat. The National Anthem will be performed by the Sussex County Sheriff Department's Honor Guard Unit. Plus throughout the night there will be top secret surprises in honoring the United States Armed Forces.
Along with these activities, fans can enjoy a performance by local rock group, Rated R Band, or even take a tethered hot air balloon ride courtesy of RE/MAX. Kids can also meet and have their photo taken with special mascot guests Sparky the Fire Dog and Smokey the Bear. Speaking of mascots, Herbie the Miner and Jack the Jackal will square off in comedic competitions and hijinks! Following the game, the night will climax with the largest fireworks show in Sussex County with double the fire power.
