NFA excels in Fencing Invitational

Sports. Local students performed well in the Morris Knolls 2019 Freshman/Sophomore High School Fencing Invitational in Rockaway recently.

Two hundred and thirty five of the best High School fencers in New Jersey competed in individual fencing at 3 weapons: saber, foil & epee.

Allen Trudnos, Pope John XXIII Regional High School, Sparta won a Gold Medal in the first-year student's Saber Invitational tournament.In preliminary round fencers competed to 5 touches winner. After pools, next is Direct Elimination (DE) best 2 of 3 bouts, five touches match, winner advanced forward.

Twenty-four freshmen fencers competed in Men’s saber. In the preliminary pool, Allen Trudnos won all 5 matches, (25 touches score and only 2 touches received) with indicator +23, after pools, he was ranked #1 starting Direct Elimination (DE).

Allen advanced bye.

At Top 16 (DE).

Allen won 5:0 & 5:1 against Ricker Aidan (Butler HS).

At Top 8 (DE).

Allen won 5:0 & 5:1 versus Gringeri Jacob (Morristown HS)

At Top 4 (DE).

Allen won 5:4,2:5,5:3 against Shteyn Mark (Livingston HS)

In the Gold Medal bouts Allen Trudnos fence Brekhman Eric another fencer from (Livingston HS), Allen won 2:1 (5:2,4:5,5:2) and earn 1st Place. This was a first gold medal winner for Pope John XXIII at High Schools Fencing Competitions.

Allen fenced and practiced at National Fencing Alliance (NFA) at address # 38 Station Rd (PAL gym), Sparta.

Kaden Kambak (Sparta High School), for the first time competed atin the NJ High School Sophomore Men’s Saber. In pools he won 1 match against Roetman Chris (Butler HS). At Direct Elimination Kambak fence #7 McGuffey Milo (Columbia HS) and lost 1:2 (5:3, 4:5, 3:5) and finished 27th place.
