SCCC Skylanders defeat Nassau Lions
SPORTS. In an exciting game that saw two ties, SCCC ended up winning 4-2 on Saturday.
The Sussex County Community College (SCCC) women's soccer team defeated the Nassau Lions 4-2 on Saturday. SCCC started the game slowly but then Nassau took the lead off a spilled ball by Katie Bertoa. The Skylanders then evened it up with 10 minutes remaining in the half from a great finish by Brelyn Cusano. Then Nassau scored past Katie Bertoa just 3 minutes after Cusano's equalizer.
SCCC took control 10 minutes into the half and Giovanna Castro turned neatly off of a pass from Milla Jowett and scored into the upper corner to tie the game again. Less than a minute later, Castro set up a chance for Mackenzie Utter from outside the box who finished low to the keeper's right. Sussex then won thanks to another goal from Giovanna Castro, this time with an assist by Jessenia Velez.
