This morning, Nov 14, veterans in Sussex County were treated to a yearly event at Green Hills Elementary School.

A Veterans Day tradition was had where veteran guests were serenaded by students giving musical performances and original poems while photos of veterans past and present scrolled behind them on an ever-changing digital tribute.

Several students even sang the Marine Hymn to honor three of the children’s fathers.

Additionally, two children (siblings) read a story recounting their grandfather’s service in Vietnam - later displaying his medals, including a Purple Heart and a Silver Star.

Afterward, we were treated to a lunch in the cafeteria All the while students stopped by to ask if we needed anything or just to offer words of appreciation.

I am proud to be a veteran here in Sussex County, and even more so, I am proud of what the schools here are teaching our students.

Thank you very much to the administration of Green Hills School!!!
