In response to Brady Campaign

Sue Hannon’s letter (Oct. 25, 2018) is from an activist's point of view. She fails to mention that of the 36,000 gun deaths, approx. two-thirds of those are suicide. Of the one-third homicides, approx. half of those are in our larger cities. Yes, still bad, but you should know the definitions.
Another important statistic to consider is the number of defensive gun uses. It is a hard to be accurate. because many are never reported, however, the estimates range from 500,000 to more than 3 million defensive gun uses, per year. So roughly, guns are used 15 to 80 times more to protect a life than to take one. Hmmmm, changes the story little doesn’t it?
I would not be alarmed if concealed carry users were allowed to come into NJ. In fact, I would welcome it. I know many, and would be comforted knowing they may be around me and my family in a potential crisis situation. To me, a gun is just a tool, just like a hammer and a screwdriver.
I would much prefer my wife and daughter to be able to conceal carry in NJ for their own self-defense to even their odds if ever needed.
Be skeptical of the statistics thrown around by activists to prop up their agenda. Her attack on the Sparta Mayor and Council is unfounded.
