Musical adaptation of Busytown' currently running

NETCONG The Growing Stage’s musical adaption of Richard Scarry’s “Busytown” is appearing at the Historic Palace Theater through Oct. 24 Busytown is always buzzing with activity. But what do people do all day? Find out what Huckle Cat, Farmer Pig, Grocer Cat and the Fire Chief do. Scarry was a popular American children’s author and illustrator who published over 300 books with total sales of over 100 million worldwide. He worked for the art departments of various magazines before making a career breakthrough in 1949 with Little Golden Books. Under the direction of TGS Director of Education Lori B. Lawrence, “Busytown” features a cast of professional AEA artists: Danny Campos who was featured in the title role of Frosty will be playing Huckle Cat; Jenna Morris who played Miss Nitpicker in last season’s Lyle the Crocodile is joined by Cristina Farruggia;and Steve and Maggie Graham who all performed in the Growing Stage’s production of Peter and The Wolf. Additionally, making his Growing Stage debut is Robert Farruggia. The musical direction is by Laura Petrie with choreography by Jillian Petrie. “Busytown” will be presented Saturdays and Sundays at 4 p.m., with weekday school matinees available.
