Special 100th birthday celebration

NEWTON — Harmony in Motion, a women’s a cappella chorus, rehearses every Monday night at Bristol Glen in Newton. On many occasions, they are visited by a few residents of this community who enjoy listening to their special blend of four-part harmony. Adelaide Kanapp in particular is a frequent member of their audience and she is celebrating her 100th birthday during the month of March. Coincidentally, Oreo cookies has a similar birthday. The ladies of Harmony in Motion planned a little surprise for Adelaide to honor her on this milestone birthday. Before their regular rehearsal, they gathered around her to sing their special Harmony Happy Birthday song and presented her with chocolate roses and a small gift. A special balloon appeared above the unique cake — which consisted of a tower of 100 assorted Oreo cookies.
