Trial set in accidental shooting at Wild West show

    BYRAM — A trial is expected to begin this week in a case stemming from the accidental shooting of an actor at a Wild West theme park. Scott Harris was left paralyzed after being shot during a staged gunfight at Wild West City in Byram, Sussex County, in 2006. Live ammunition was mistakenly used in the scene. The owners and operators of Wild West City face aggravated assault and weapons charges. Owner Michael Stabile also is accused of evidence tampering. Jury selection in the trial could begin this week. A juvenile and another man who brought the bullets to the park previously pleaded guilty to charges and served probationary sentences. Harris also has filed a civil suit against the theme park.
