Gym sessions offered to special needs children
HACKETTSTOWN Giant Gymnastics is offering a new open gym to allow children with special needs and their families an outlet to explore the world of gymnastics in a safe and friendly environment. The special needs classes are designed for children to attend with their parents or guardians. Guided by Giants coaches, students and their families will able to learn and play in the different areas of the gym. The children will get the experience of playing on the balance beam at various heights. They will also have access, with guidance, to the tumble track, bars, and the floor. Giant Gymnastics offers sessions specifically for children with autism. Coaches Karen Ausland and Linda Lebo will be the instructors for the Hackettstown classes. The classes have no more than 10 students per instructor, so space will be limited. The sessions cost $15 and registration prior to the class is required. This new program will be coming to Giant's Lafayette location starting in March. At the Lafayette location, children with autism, Aspergers Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Down Syndrome are invited to try the open gym with Coaches Carly Earl and Wendy Panicucci. The dates will be announced shortly. To register for classes, or for more information, call Giant Gymnastics at 973-579-9400 for Lafayette and 908-850-3746 for Hackettstown.
