Sparta takes the Kelly Cup for third consecutive year

WEST ORANGE — Sparta beat Newton-Lenape Valley for the McMullen/Msgr Kelly Cup Championship game on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Richard Codey Arena in West Orange. Sparta won 3-0 for their third consecutive cup win. A first-period goal was netted at the 1:16 mark by Sparta's number 24, Nick Bartholomew. There was an unassisted second-period goal at 2:55 from number 22, Nick Clayton. A goal came in the third period at 7:44 from number 9, Greg Jandoli. Newton-Lenape Valley scored no goals off of 23 shots with Sparta's James Sissler in the net. Sparta also won their fifth Sussex Cup on Dec. 31, 2011, beating Newton-Lenape Valley 4-3.
