On Monday, Oct. 8, at about 6:50 p.m. Patrolman Joseph Indano stopped a vehicle driven by Gregory Iwashko, 18, of Netcong, after a computer check identified the vehicle owner as having an expired license. Iwashko was not the registered owner, but he did have an active warrant for $200 out of Netcong. He was also found to be in possession of less than 50 grams of a controlled dangerous substance believed to be Marijuana. Iwashko was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and released after posting the $200 bail on the Netcong warrant. He was released pending a Nov. 5 municipal court appearance. On Monday, Oct. 8, at about 8:09 p.m. Patrolman Fortunato Montella was responding to an emergency in the borough when a vehicle pulled in front of him while he was trying to turn onto Route 183 North from Main Street. A collision occurred, and Montella was injured. He was transported by Stanhope/Netcong Ambulance squad to St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover division, where he was treated for neck, and back injuries. He was later released. The other vehicle was operated by Mones Cazon of Argentina. There were three other passengers in the vehicle with him. All refused medical treatment at the scene. Cazon was issued a citation for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. The accident is still under investigation by the Sussex County Prosecutors office Accident investigation learn, and the Stanhope Police Department.
