— U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ5) recently visited the New Jersey State Fair, where he presented a flag and certificate to Sussex County's "Senior of the Year" Roy McQueen, an army veteran from Hopatcong. Gottheimer also greeted and thanked veterans at the veterans tent, stopped by the Sussex County Beekeepers Association demonstration, and tours 4-H Building's farm animals. Gottheimer spoke with local seniors, residents, and students at booths across the Sussex County Fairgrounds.
McQueen was chosen in the annual contest conducted by the Sussex County Department of Health and Human Services for, among other things, his 10 years of work with the Meals on Wheels program. McQueen is also active in coordinating youth visits to senior citizens during the Christmas holidays, and he himself regularly visits the people at a Vererans Affairs hospital.
"There is no greater responsibility than that we owe to those who have given so much to us," Gottheimer said. "Sussex County seniors and veterans have made invaluable contributions to our Jersey communities, so I'm happy to be able to take today celebrate with them and honor Roy McQueen in particular."
