Starting on Oct. 23, 2019, the Lake Mohawk Country Club (LMCC) West Shore Trail parking lot will be closed to non-authorized vehicles. The West Shore Parking lot is private property for use of LMCC members, guests, and Clubhouse patrons. Vehicles will be towned/immobilized at the vehicle owner's expense.

This has been the subject of discussion for years. LMCC has spent tends of thousands of dollars pursuing approvals from Sparta Township for a fair means to offset maintenance costs of this private lot for the patrons and staff of White Deer Plaza area businesses to share its use. LMCC's application for its partking lot was rejected by the Planning Board in 2017 and by the Zoning Board of Adjustment in 2018. Each rejection remains in litigation. Additional attempts this year to work with Sparta Township on this solution during were likewise unsuccessful.

"For many years, we have tried to explain to anyone who would listen, that the Club does not have the resources to provide free public parking; unfortunately, all of our efforts fell on deaf ears," said LMCC Board of Trustees President, William Greenlaw.

"LMCC never wanted this outcome and tried very hard for an equitable solution. The only fair thing that we can do now is limit the parking lot to the LMCC members and Clubhouse patrons who pay for it." -Kelly & Ward LLC, Sparta
