Art and refreshments at annual meeting

    Newton — The annual meeting of the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council will be held Monday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. Founded in 1971, the Council is a non-profit agency designated by the Freeholders as the official arts and heritage organization for the county. Its mission is to foster and promote the artistic and cultural vitality of Sussex County. The annual meeting is open to the general public and to all members of the Council. It will be held in the Council’s gallery, located in the Council’s office at 133 Spring Street, Newton. Refreshments will be served. The purpose of the meeting is to apprise the membership of the activity of the Council, give a yearly treasurer’s report, elect new board members. Also, at this meeting, those who are getting grants for 2012 will learn how much they will receive. The Council’s gallery exhibits two-dimensional and three-dimensional art and fine crafts.
