NEWTON-Bula Restaurant, located at 134 Spring St., is currently hosting an art show of works by Lori Borromeo D’Agostino. The show, which began earlier this month, will continue until the end of October. Borromeo D’Agostino, a Newton resident, is displaying a series of acrylics—a departure from her previous works of realistic women done in pastels and water color. This series of trees and sky is a fusion of her favorite styles of 20th century modern art. “I wanted to capture the few moments of dusk when light and color are at their most dramatic and magical, in the most simplistic way possible,” she explained. In the more abstract paintings, she focuses on sunsets glowing through bare tree limbs. Borromeo D’Agostino has a degree in art from the College of St. Elizabeth and has exhibited her work periodically for the past 10 years. Bula Restaurant regularly displays the works of local artists in its “b-lounge.” The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday, and will be open for dinner on Sundays beginning Oct. 23. Local artists interested in displaying their work can inquire at 973-579-7338.
