Church service marks Children's Memorial Day

    Hamburg — Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is service for families who have lost children as part of National Children's Memorial Day during the 9 a.m. service on Sunday, Dec. 11 "to remember by name those children who lived and died, and who, even in death, continue to matter." To include a name in this remembrance call the church office at 973-827-5080. National Children's Memorial Day occurs every year on the second Sunday of December and is observed internationally. On this day, families around the world light candles at 7 p.m. in their time zone. As candles burn down in one time zone, they are lighted in the next, creating a 24-hour wave of light that encircles the globe. This remembrance ceremony provides the world with lit candles for an entire 24 hour period in order to honor the children we have lost. Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is located at 3320 Route 94.
