Local 4-H members fare well at state competition

ANDOVER — On Feb. 25 teens from throughout New Jersey participated in the annual statewide 4-H Horse Bowl Competition. Members of the Sussex-based horse club Chaps and Breeches were also represented at the event. The competition is an educational project in which 4-H members learn the many aspects of horsemanship and how to work as a team. Topics include equine anatomy, conformation, feed and nutrition, evolution, breed characteristics, reproduction, horse management, tack and equipment, styles of riding and the exhibition of horses. Several members of Chaps and Breeches excelled during the competition and were recognized with ribbons. Sascha Hernandez won first place in the individual senior division and Katie Rozektook fifth place in the individual junior division . Chaps' Somerset team members Sascha Hernandez and Brianna Dunn were awarded first place in the senior team division.
