Oliviero deployed to Iraq

SPARTA-Jeffrey B. Oliviero, of Sparta, deployed to Iraq this week as part of the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Forces in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Oliviero is part of the 2d Force Service Support Group which is the combat service support element of the expeditionary force. Second FSSG provides the major sources of heavy combat service support for the 2d Marine Division, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing, and the command element of II MEF. The support provided by 2d FSSG includes the combat service support functions of supply, maintenance, transportation, engineering, landing support, health services and other special services. The unit will spend approximately seven months in Iraq contributing to the area's stability and security. Oliviero joined the US Marine Corps in March 2003 and has been based in Camp Leguene, NC since February 2004. He is the son of Marcia and the late Gerald Oliviero and brother to Jenna from Sparta.
